Under the title "At That Time, and Now, Hungarians at Marqab Castle", the Exhibition of Marqab Castle was opened at the Hungarian National Museum on Friday.

Director of Hungarian National Museum Laszlo Csorba stressed the importance of Marqab Castle in the Hungarian history.

Participants in the exhibition stressed the importance of the Castle as a springboard for pushing the Syrian-Hungarian and the Arab-Hungarian relations forward, pointing out that the castle played a role in connecting the East with the West.

They hailed the coexistence and tolerance the Syrian society is enjoying.

The participants also stressed that the Hungarian excavation works started as a personal initiative which was later supported and sponsored by the Syrian side where an agreement was signed between Hungarian Peter Pazmany University, Damascus University and Syrian Department of Antiquities to support these works.

They underlined that they seek to hold this exhibition in other Hungarian cities and hope that this exhibition be a permanent exhibition at the Marqab Castle itself.

The exhibition will last until next February
