Electric Generating Plant to be Implemented Soon in Deir-Ezzor, Bill Tariff Reduction Expected

Ministry of Electricity said it will start carrying out the project of al-Taim Electric Generating Plant in Deir Ezzor Province in two months. The estimated cost of the 750 MW station is SYP 45 billion.
The project would satisfy the growing demand on electricity, support energy development and stability for fifteen years and provide 2000 job opportunities, according to Minister of Electricity Imad Khamis.
During his meeting with Deir-Ezzor Council members on Saturday, Khamis clarified that the Ministry's plan includes putting 125 electricity transformers with a capacity of 125 MW in service.
The Ministry also seeks to renew and replace all the old electricity networks in the Province and establish 20 electricity transformer stations in the upcoming years with a cost ranging between SYP 300 millions to one billion for each station to decrease voltage drop occurring in some parts of the Province.
Khamis said the Ministry is studying the reduction of electricity bill tariff which constitutes 23% of the total value. Money support could be covered through achieving investments in electricity sector according to the study, the Minister added.
