State Planning Commission, WFP sign Memo on Supporting Displaced Iraqis in Syria

The Syrian government and the UN World Food Program(WFP) on Monday signed a memo of understanding for the Emergency Project No. 200040 on providing assistances to the displaced Iraqis in Syria with a USD 32 million estimated value.
Number of the beneficiaries of this agreement reached 150,000 of those who are registered with the United Nation's High Commission for Refugees.The presented relieves include various kinds of foodstuffs.
Chairman of the State Planning Commission, Amer Hosni Lutfi, said the agreement supports Syria's efforts to ensure the requirements of the displaced Iraqis hosted by Syria since the occupation of Iraq.
He pointed to the deep cooperation between the Syrian government and the WFP, which contributed in carrying out a number of these agreements, appreciating the efforts has been exerting by the WFP to support the development efforts in Syria.
The WFP Resident Representative in Damascus, Muhannad Hadi, hailed the Syrian government efforts for providing the displaced Iraqis with requirements , embracing them and granting them the same privileges of the Syrian citizens.
