Syria, Hungary Hold Medical Symposium in Damascus

The Syrian-Hungarian Medical Symposium started activities on Tuesday at al-Mujtahed Hospital in Damascus.
The two-day Symposium, organized by the Federation of Syrian Doctors in Hungary in cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Health, will discuss various medical issues such as transplanting joints through surgery and replacing hip and knee joints.
Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Health Hassan Hajj Hussein said that the symposium comes in the framework of a series of cooperation programs held by the Ministry in cooperation with the federations of expatriate doctors with the aim of exchanging expertise and information on the latest scientific discoveries.
Hussein indicated that the symposium constitutes a precious opportunity to discuss cooperation domains with Hungarian doctors to achieve the hoped-for goals in the health field.
He invited the Hungarian doctors to inspect and get acquainted with the latest developments witnessed by health sector in Syria with regard to the number of hospitals and medical staffs, in addition to the progress made by the pharmaceutical industry.
For his part, Chairman of the Federation of Syrian Doctors in Hungary Dr. Tammam Asaad said that the symposium opens the door wide for exchanging experiments and expertise between the Syrian and Hungarian doctors in a way that would contribute to developing the scientific and medical services in both countries.
